First Day of School

Large's first day of school was Tuesday, August 19th. We are starting at a new school this year. It is a private school with an element of homeschooling. He goes Tuesday/Thursdays and Monday/Wednesdays we homeschool. It is a neat concept. They do all the classroom instruction and we do most of the work and homework at home on the other days. On Fridays, they offer electives that the kids can go to, up to a full day. We have Large in two, Spanish and Art, so the goes for half a day on Friday. So far we are liking it and he likes it much better than his old school. He likes being at home, even if it means he has to do school there. He is doing a great job at home, and so far, I am even enjoying it! I love the classical curriculum and also that it continually reaffirms our values and beliefs.

Here are some pictures of him in his uniform on his way out the door for his first day of school. I think he looks adorable in it. We gave him his first Webkinz in the morning before school started, and he was so excited. It has been a great motivation tool for getting his work done. With every worksheet he completes at home with me, he has earned 5 minutes on the computer for playing in Webkinz World.

Showing off his new Webkinz.

Showing how full and big his backpack is for a school day. Because he does so much work at home, he has to take a lot of his supplies and books back and forth to school. I hear it only gets worse as they get older. Guess we will be needing to get a rolling backpack soon.
