We saw this rainbow as we were about to leave the house to go watch fireworks this evening.
We spent the evening with our good friends Sean and Angie and their daughters at an area of town that we discovered last year was a great place to watch fireworks. Their daughters are clearly much more fond of having their pictures taken than our boys.
While waiting for the fireworks to start, the kids worked together using this long stick to clean pond gunk out of the pond. We were not happy to see that it was Large's job to use his hands to remove the pond gunk from the stick. Needless to say we gave the boys showers when we got home.
Keeping Small from getting too close to the pond was a full-time job.
Our very patriotic and good-natured niece made an appearance too.
Large displaying his flag.
And finally, the fireworks show.
It was a great evening, and a good opportunity to explain a few things to the boys, especially Large, about our beloved country and why we are so thankful to God to live in such a great place. The last thing he said before he went to bed was that he hopes that someday all countries will let their people be free. I think he gets it more than a lot of people my age!
Happy 4th!!
